Students Coenrolled in the University of Sint Eustatius School of Medicine and the Programs of Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Practicing Neurological Examinations in Room Adjacent to Hyperbaric Chamber

Purpose

Central to accurate diagnosis and suitable treatment is the physical examination of the patient. For this reason, the Programs of Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine at the University of Sint Eustatius are developing practical tutorials related to physical examinations. The major focus is to provide students and health care practitioners with readily accesible demonstrations of specific elements of physical examinations. Along with each demonstration (presented as short video clips for high band-width users), we provide methodological descriptions, guides to the rapid interpretation of the results of the test, and tips for enhancing the validity of the tests. At present, tutorials related to the nervous system are under development. In time, other systems of the body will be incorporated into the tutorials. As such, the tutorials are intended as educational supplements and not as a substitute for training under the direct supervision of qualified professional instructors in the health sciences.
